During the past couple of crazy months I have been able to spend more time with my family -- my husband, my daughter, Lindsay, and my son, Jacob, who is home from college. One thing I will remember during this time is what a joy is it to have my family all together. And one of the things I most enjoy is our daily walks with our dog, Lucy.

I can sit here and write line after line about the love a pet brings to your family and the imprint they leave on your heart. We were fortunate enough to have Peaches, a bischon frise, for 15 years. I actually got her for our daughter, Lindsay, who has special needs, but she really ended up being my dog. She was a little cuddle muffin and followed me all over the house.

Now don't get me wrong. Lindsay loved Peaches, but she needed a bigger dog. After we lost Peaches, I didn't know if we could ever get another dog. It's just so hard to lose that part of your family. But I read somewhere that you never replace a dog, you just make room in your heart for another one.

Then comes Lucy. About a year-and-a-half ago, I decided I wanted to get a dog for Lindsay --- her dog. After doing some research, I found an adorable English Cream Golden Retriever puppy. We got her on New Year's Eve 2019, and she quickly stole all of our hearts. But little did I remember what it's like to have a puppy!!! And with Lindsay!!

Those first six months were a little tricky, like raising two toddlers. The puppy biting, the house training, teaching Lindsay to be gentle. I remember we finally reached a point where I didn't have to keep eyes on them at all times, or so I thought.

I was in the kitchen fixing dinner one evening and they were in the sunroom. I heard Lucy growl, and I said, "Lindsay, are you being gentle?" She said, "No, momma." Well, at least she is brutally honest!

But those days have passed and Lucy is a wonderful, loving, sweet dog -- still puppy at 18 months. Lindsay adores her. Lucy even visits Lindsay's adult care program and Lucy is great with the clients. It's really amazing how intuitive dogs can be and provide unconditional love, calm, and a reassuring presence. By encouraging play and just offering a sweet cuddle, we all benefit from the love and affection, the fun and entertainment dogs bring to our lives.

So that's the story of Lindsay and Lucy. And to celebrate that union, I am now introducing a new line of products -- The Lindsay and Lucy Pet Bandanna. It's a traditional tie-on bandana with reversible prints. 100% cotton - 100% cuteness! So show your pet some love, share with your pet-loving friends, and send me some pictures!

Stay safe, stay well & God Bless!

Brenda

"Dogs don't make judgments about physical appearance or abilities, and they don't care how big your house is or what you do for a living. They care about the quality of your character and your capacity to love."
